Directions from the south, take Ulmerton road or West Bay Dr. west to gulf boulevard,
head north past the high rise condos you will see the Clearwater pass bridge ahead of you do not go over it, look for the Clearwater community sailing center on your right. Pull into their driveway and immediately turn left, drive past their fence and we will be in that area.

Sometimes we will need to cancel due to severe weather or construction in the area, please call in there is a question.

Bring your booties / water shoes , for best grip and foot protection I look forward to seeing you there.

Watersports West is a real store with 14,000 sq. ft. located close to the water and Indian Rocks Beach. We are active in the sports we promote and we are experts in all aspects of these watersports. We do it because we love it! Tampa Bay kiteboarding has really taken off and we love being the leading shop in the area to service all kiteboarding gear, lessons and service needs. Phase One: Explore and Educate

Be a part of our industry leading ground school class to learn everything you will need to know in order to learn, progress, and practice this extreme sport safely. The THREE hour class will give you the tools and information that you are looking for in order to be successful, safe, and RESPONSIBLE. Topics will include gear selection/explanation, rigging, wind assessment, weather assessment, riding area/launch assessment, safety protocols, rescue scenarios, wind window, power strokes, control bar theory using a live simulator, kite size selection, right of way and riding theory. You will receive a detailed packet for you to keep that includes tons of literature to get you through that first year of riding. You will also receive on CD-ROM a detailed Tampa Bay Ride Guide covering 14 locations throughout Tampa Bay detailing popular places to kiteboard with important information about each spot to keep you safe and on the water for many years to come. This will be an important tool in planning your first session on the water. We use the latest Apple products including iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV which adds a level of understanding just not available on the beach!

Class meets Tuesday from 6-9:00pm @ Watersports West. Call to reserve your seat as space is limited.

Honeymoon Island Update

Erosion of the beach at Honeymoon Island has greatly reduced the area where we can launch and land out kites. Please make an effort to make sure that when you show up to kite you find the place where the other kiters have already set up (southeast of the southeast pavilion) and try to keep all of us in the same area, taking up as little space as possible. Do not launch your kites over people laying on the beach. Roll up lines so the rangers can access the beach with their 4 wheelers without having to avoid our lines or kites.

There is a very small swim area marked by 4 white and orange markers MAKE AN EFFORT TO STAY OUT OF THIS SECTION OF WATER. The park management is very happy with the kiting community that kites at the island at this time, they just ask that we stay out of the designated swim area, they approached me on the beach last week and ask that we increase our efforts to respect the swim area as some folks have been kiting through the swim zone.

Thank you for your help in keeping this access open.
