2015 Bote Paddleboards 10.5
2015 Bote 10.5 HD vs Flood 10.5 vs Axiom 10.5
Choosing the right paddleboard is hard enough, which is why we welcome everyone to come to our free paddleboard demos on Saturdays at the Clearwater Sailing Center. (For more information on our demo days contact the shop at 727-517-7000). One of the first things we do when we get new boards in is take them out for ourselves! The 2015 Bote Paddleboards 10.5 have officially arrived at Watersports West and you better believe we’ve been out playing on them.
Before getting into how they feel on the water, lets first talk about the specs of the boards. All three boards are 10.5’ x 30” x 4.5”. The weight capacity of the 10.5 HD is 240 lbs while the Flood 10.5 and Axiom 10.5 are 230 lbs. Bote does three styles or colors of boards for the 10.5 HD and Flood: the classic, the native and chainmail. The classic in both the HD and Flood weighs 28lbs, the native weighs 25lbs and the chainmail weighs 23lbs, the Axiom has only one style and it weights 28lbs. It is important to mention that the Chainmail edition is a carbon fiber board.
Bote 10.5 HD
The Bote 10.5 HD is the most expensive of the three boards but it is also the best overall performing board. The feature that makes this board outstanding is its displacement nose.
Having a pierced nose helps this board cut through the water way more efficiently. Rather than getting that smacking sound of trying to go through small chop, this board pierces through it. This is a true cruising board! This board tracks straighter than the Flood 10.5 and Axiom 10.5 boards. You will get more glide per stroke on this board than the other boards. We would highly recommend this board if you are going to spend the majority of your time in the intracoastal waterways or if you’re looking to cover some distance and get a workout. There is also a Bugslinger Edition board made for the true fisherman.
Bote Flood 10.5
The Bote Flood 10.5 does not have the same displacement nose as the HD but it does have a single spine down the middle of the board, which channels the water to the sides. Bote designed these boards to be incredibly efficient for our gulf waters. If you want to take it out in the surf, you can, just take out the smaller two fins. If you want to cruise around then leave all three fins in and it will track straighter and be fun to play around on. Compared to other “cruising” boards this one performs above and beyond. If you’re looking to get out and enjoy the day then the Flood 10.5 is the perfect board for you.
Bote Axiom 10.5
The Axiom is hands down a beautiful board. This board has the exact same shape as the Flood 10.5. The features that make this board unique is the pad which goes the length of the board. If you’re doing yoga or another exercise that requires the length of the board then theres not many other boards on the market that compares to the Axiom. These boards are super stable and will give you the confidence to try new poses. If you have a pet or a child you want to bring out with you then the extra padding on the Axiom will give them a comfortable place to stay.
